Yarra Valley Orchid Society
Our
Aims
To promote the enjoyment of growing orchids.
To provide regular meetings where orchid lovers can get together and
further their understanding of all aspects of orchid growing.
To co-operate with other like minded Societies & Clubs in the
furtherance of our aims.
We also believe that the Upper Yarra Valley provides some of the finest
locations to grow Orchids in Victoria.
The fresh air, clean unadulterated water, together with the cool summer
nights are proving ideal for the culture of many orchids grown
commercially and by hobbyists.
The growth of the Society is evidence of the great interest shown by a
wide variety of growers in the Upper Yarra.
Our meetings are aimed at the novice grower with cultural talks and
practical advice at every meeting.
A monthly newsletter is sent to every financial member and this
contains articles on growing as well as information on club activities.
Guest speakers will be invited to most meetings. Members are invited to
bring flowering orchids to each meeting for display, discussion and
judging.
The Society runs an orchid show each year.
We hope you will join us and enjoy the friendship and pleasure that
comes from the sharing of a common pursuit - that of growing the most
enthralling of plants - THE ORCHID.
