The Geelong Orchid & Indoor Plant Club was formed on the 4 th November 1965 after members of the Geelong Horticultural Society realised that there was an increasing number of their members, and the general public interested in the cultivation of orchids and indoor plants. The clubs objective is to promote the hobby of keeping orchids and indoor plants, and to provide members, and the general public with cultural information, and advice through our monthly meetings, shows, and the publication of a monthly newsletter.

Meetings are held on the 1st . Thursday of each month(except January) in the Meeting Rooms, Geelong Botanic Gardens , Eastern Park . (Melways Map 452 G4—Council Horticultural Complex). A new growers group is held once a month at different homes, and problem plants requiring growing advice are most welcome. New members and visitors are most welcome.

The main meeting commences at 7.30pm in a friendly, and informal atmosphere. The format for these meetings includes a monthly flowering plant competition, guest speakers, demonstrations, raffles, and a free library loan service for members, with the meetings typically closing at approximately 9.30pm., when tea/coffee and a light supper is available at no charge. During the year a number of bus trips are conducted to well known Victorian orchid nurseries and shows.

The Club holds two shows every year in the Christ Church Hall, cnr. Moorabool Street and McKillop Street , Geelong . (Details on our Shows page)

Annual membership fees are $15 single, $20 family.
