The Geelong Orchid & Indoor Plant
Club was formed on the 4 th November 1965 after
members of the Geelong Horticultural Society
realised that there was an increasing number of
their members, and the general public interested
in the cultivation of orchids and indoor plants.
The clubs objective is to promote the hobby of
keeping orchids and indoor plants, and to provide
members, and the general public with cultural
information, and advice through our monthly
meetings, shows, and the publication of a monthly
newsletter.
Meetings are held on the 1st . Thursday of each
month(except January) in the Meeting Rooms,
Geelong Botanic Gardens , Eastern Park . (Melways
Map 452 G4Council Horticultural Complex).
A new growers group is held once a month at different homes, and problem plants requiring growing advice are most welcome.
New members and visitors are most welcome.
The main meeting commences at 7.30pm in a
friendly, and informal atmosphere. The format for
these meetings includes a monthly flowering plant
competition, guest speakers, demonstrations,
raffles, and a free library loan service for
members, with the meetings typically closing at
approximately 9.30pm., when tea/coffee and a
light supper is available at no charge. During
the year a number of bus trips are conducted to
well known Victorian orchid nurseries and shows.
The Club holds two shows every year in the Christ
Church Hall, cnr. Moorabool Street and McKillop
Street , Geelong . (Details on our Shows page)
Annual membership fees are $15 single, $20
family.
